Ring!

Brise's ring is here!  I know that everyone typically is all about the "blingy-er" ring (I guess that's the engagement ring), but in this case, I think the groom's ring deserves some attention.

A picture of his ring is in the sidebar.  The outside is Damascus steel and it's lined with wood from the USS North Carolina. I purchased it from an Etsy store, Wedgewood Rings.  The store owner provided us with a picture of the certificate of authenticity showing the wood is from the ship, of which he also provided a picture.

I'm pretty sure that Brise was excited when he saw his ring (I guessed, correctly, that "surprising" Brise at the wedding would probably have no real noticeable effect, plus I'm terrible at holding back happy news).

Time marches on...

2.5 months to go! (ok, ok, 77 days.)  I just sent an email to our videographer and then photographer.  The videographer wants some details on the timeline.  Wouldn't we all?  I'm working on it.  The strange thing is that I have a friend who loves DIsney and, when she gets married, plans to be married at Disney.  I've got her wedding planned to  the  minute.  Mine?  Not so much.  This is what we have:

1. We're getting married on the beach.  The ceremony musicians (a violin and cello) are booked from 4:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.

2. We're having the reception thing immediately after in the Shrine Club and maybe outside on a "patio" area.  I think maybe we'll have a cocktail hour.

3. We have a DJ who is supposed to ensure people have fun.  If that doesn't work out, we're having lawn games and a pinata.

The wedding itself is a unity ceremony.  Therefore, we will have no sand, no candles, no bottles of wine nailed in a box for fights.  I am pretty sure we're not doing any sort of garter business because I am not a fan of having underclothes tossed out to even my closest friends and family.  There will be children guests.  I am not sure anymore how many people will be there.  Somewhere between 70-150.  It's gotten out of control.

Also, I am trying to plan a Saturday morning workout at a Savannah Crossfit.  The coaches at Crossfit77 helped me narrow it down to 2 gyms and now I'm just trying to see which one will open at 8 or so to let us workout.

Suit Up!

Oh, what a fun week we've had!  On Saturday, I drove to Buford, GA (just outside of Atlanta), for the initial dress fitting.  Only the underlying structure is completed, but it's a lot while being a little.  This time, I remembered to get scraps of the material so the rest of the wedding wouldn't clash terribly.  The most exciting part is that my dress is being made using the lace from my mother's wedding dress.

Because I was so close to Atlanta, I seized the opportunity to have dinner with my friends from my old Bible study.  Four of us got together, and it was wonderful to visit with the girls who used to pray for me that I could meet Brise (he didn't have a name at the time).

After a few more stops (I went to the mall to search for shoes, visited Brise's Granny, spent some time with my bridesmen, drove to Augusta for a few hours of family time), I returned to Mooresville, exhausted.  But, no rest for the wedding planner!

Yesterday, we went searching for Brise's outfit.  Gracious does he look dapper!  Not only did we choose his suit (spoiler alert: it's a light grey suit), but we also picked out the suits for the men in our wedding party (lighter grey suits).  It was really productive.  I am also envious because Men's Warehouse is the easiest place to shop.  A few measurements, a guy pulls 6-7 options, Brise looks at me, I shrug, and 2 suits later, we're just waiting for alterations to happen.  I am so ready for there to be a Woman's Warehouse.
